What is salvation?
Do you know where you’ll spend eternity?
You may not believe there is an eternity, but what if you are wrong? The truth is that the Bible talks a great deal about eternity. It also talks about Heaven and Hell.
Romans 3:23
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
“But I’ve never sinned” you say. Do you really believe that? Have you never lied, thrown a tantrum, gossiped, or rebelled? If you are honest with yourself you’ve at least told a lie. It may have been a small lie, but it was a lie.
Revelation 21:8
“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolators, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
According to Revelation 21:8 all liars will go to the Lake of Fire (Hell). And it only takes one lie to mark you as a liar!
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 5:8
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Think of that! Over 2,000 years ago Jesus went to the cross to suffer all the hell you and I deserve, yet He was innocent. It boggles the mind, but it is true. He died so you could live.
Romans 10:9
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.“
Whether you are talking about salvation, going to heaven, or living eternally with God, you are talking about the same thing. Salvation is not something you got at birth. The world says we are all the children of God, but this is not true. We are all the creation of God. But to become a child of God speaks of an entirely different question: How do you get saved and become a child of God? As is stated above you confess the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart.
Believe what?
Believe that Jesus Christ came to Earth, born of a virgin, with the purpose of dying for your sins! He died for you!
Believe that He is the promised Saviour and that He died for [ put your name here ]. Then:
Romans 10:13
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.“
To call on the Lord is simply you talking to God like you would your best friend. It means acknowledging you’re a sinner and can’t save yourself. It means recognizing that Jesus Christ is God, the Son of God and that He loves you. It means simply asking Him, as your Saviour, to enter your heart. He knows if you mean it or not; and if you do, He’ll answer that prayer right now!
If you have done that then you are saved eternally. You couldn’t save yourself and you can’t keep your salvation. It is secure in His hands. But He wants you to live for Him so that you can have fellowship with Him.
The first command of God for a Christian is to get Baptized, a Greek work that speaks of immersion. This does not save you, but it identifies you with the work of Christ where He died, was buried, and rose again!
All for you!
