Blog by Ron – How’s your Social Marketing?

Author R. Frederick Riddle

How’s your Social Marketing? That is the title of today’s discussion. And it springs from my own experiences.

I have been doing all of my social marketing and have received compliments on what I have been doing. Putting out content is an important part of advertising. But I am an author not simply a marketer.

Social Marketing Requires Time.

A typical day for me starts out with social marketing. During the summer I have taken a minibreak. What that means is I have uploaded many of my videos to YouTube and scheduled them to go public using Tuesdays and Thursdays. Soon I will be creating new content to be shown on both YouTube and Facebook, plus LinkedIn.

But that means an investment of time.

All Marketing is Important

By that I am referring not only to social media, but also to other methods of marketing. All of which requires time, money, and energy. These are commodities I would rather use for the business of writing.

Thus, I was surprised and excited when a teenage girl, the daughter of a friend of mine, launched her own business called Social Solutions with the stated goal of helping small businesses owners with their social marketing efforts.

Social Marketing Solutions

This is a play on words. But it means that by hiring her to help me in this essential but time-consuming work I am taking steps to not only continue social marketing but also to increase and improved it while allotting more time to writing books.

In my writing course I emphasize doing things the right way and doing it in a manner which maximizes my results.  What results am I looking for? Website (or store front) visitors and ultimately buyers. I am looking to reach more potential customers on the social platforms I use. If this young lady can accomplish this goal then the investment is well spent.

Earlier I Asked How Your Social Marketing is doing?

If it can’t be improved, then do nothing. But if you find your social marketing is intruding into time you need for the business, then look around for someone to help you. Social Solutions is one way to go. Automating is another way. And there are others. The key is always to be alerted to improving what and how you do things to enable you to take charge and get the work done.
